Meet the Team

While visiting one of the world's most fascinating places, trekkers will raise critical funds to protect wild places in Nova Scotia.

Henry Fuller

Henry is a founding board member of the Nature Trust and owner of a 175 acre shorefront property on the Bras d’Or Lake protected by the Nature Trust through a conservation easement. He is the Owner-Operator of the Cape Breton Boat Yard in Baddeck. Henry was a member of the Patagonia Expedition team in 2013, and Iceland in 2016, adding the treks to his ever-growing list of adventures: he’s also hiked in New Zealand and biked Mississippi - Tennessee. He was quick to sign up for the third adventure to Ecuador, where he will celebrate 20 years as a Nature Trust Board member and his 72nd birthday. Henry was inspired to join the Expedition for the Earth once again because the treks take place in destinations that have always been on his bucket list. At the same time they provide a unique opportunity to protect special places at home in Nova Scotia that you appreciate more after visiting other parts of the world.

Help save wild places in Nova Scotia by supporting Henry's Expedition for the Earth trek.

Mike Lancaster

Mike Lancaster is the Stewardship Coordinator for the St. Margaret's Bay Stewardship Association and Woodens River Watershed Environmental Organization where he works to balance community use and ecology on the islands of St. Margaret's Bay and The Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail.

He has worked in partnership with the Nature Trust for 6 years on the stewardship of Troop Island. During this time he saw first-hand the Nature Trust's commitment to the preservation of Nova Scotia's most ecologically significant special places. When he heard about the Expedition for the Earth, he knew he wanted to participate it was just a matter of when.

Since Mike was young he has always had a keep interest in the diverse ecology of the Amazon's rainforest and Andean mountain range. This fascination led him to circumnavigate Ecuador on a motorcycle in 2014. After travelling the 4,000 kilometres around Ecuador he felt he had missed out on some of the hiking and exploration opportunities that the country has to offer.

With the Expedition for the Earth and the experienced guidance of Wally Berg and the local experts, he knew that this was his opportunity to safely explore some of the incredible places that Ecuador has to offer. While at the same time being able to raise money for one of his favourite organizations in Nova Scotia and help spread the word about the importance of conservation.
